⁹ And another angel, a third, followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone ^(A)worships the beast and its image and receives ^(B)a mark on his forehead or on his hand, ¹⁰ he also will drink ^(C)the wine of God's wrath, ^(D)poured full strength into the cup of his anger, and ^(E)he will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. ¹¹ And ^(F)the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and ^(G)they have no rest, day or night, these ^(H)worshipers of the beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name.”

^12 (I)Here is a call for the endurance of the saints, those who ^(J)keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus.^[a]

¹³ And I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this: ^(K)Blessed are the dead ^(L)who die in the Lord from now on.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, ^(M)“that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!”

Take Up Your Cross and Follow Jesus

²⁴ Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him ^(A)deny himself and ^(B)take up his cross and follow me. ²⁵ For ^(C)whoever would save his life^[a] will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

⁶ and before the throne there was ^(A)as it were a sea of glass, like crystal.

And around the throne, on each side of the throne, are ^(B)four living creatures, ^(C)full of eyes in front and behind:

¹¹ And ^(A)they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for ^(B)they loved not their lives ^(C)even unto death.

¹³ Therefore ^(A)take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in ^(B)the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.

²⁹ But the ^(A)people of Israel walked on dry ground through the sea, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.

³⁰ Thus the Lord ^(B)saved Israel that day from the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore. ^31 (C)Israel saw the great power that the Lord used against the Egyptians, so the people feared the Lord, and they ^(D)believed in the Lord and in his servant Moses.

The Song of Moses

15 Then Moses and the people of Israel ^(A)sang this song to the Lord, saying,

¹⁹ For when ^(AO)the horses of Pharaoh with his chariots and his horsemen went into the sea, ^(AP)the Lord brought back the waters of the sea upon them, but the people of Israel walked on dry ground in the midst of the sea. ²⁰ Then ^(AQ)Miriam ^(AR)the prophetess, the ^(AS)sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand, and ^(AT)all the women went out after her with tambourines and dancing. ²¹ And Miriam sang to them:

Bitter Water Made Sweet

²² Then Moses made Israel set out from the Red Sea, and they went into the wilderness of ^(AV)Shur. They went three days in the wilderness and found no water. ²³ When they came to ^(AW)Marah, they could not drink the water of Marah because it was bitter; therefore it was named Marah.^{[b] 24} And the people ^(AX)grumbled against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?” ²⁵ And he ^(AY)cried to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a log,^[c] and he ^(AZ)threw it into the water, and the water became sweet.

There the Lord^[d] made for them a statute and a rule, and there he ^(BA)tested them, ²⁶ saying, ^(BB)“If you will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the ^(BC)diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, ^(BD)your healer.”

²⁷ Then ^(BE)they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs of water and seventy palm trees, and they encamped there by the water.
